Courses for Businesses
Singapore Customs Academy offers courses and events to help businesses understand customs procedures, valuation rules and strategic goods control requirements. These programmes support traders, declaring agents, logistics providers and other industry partners in meeting their compliance obligations.
Singapore Customs has appointed Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and Republic Polytechnic (RP) to offer specialised courses on customs requirements for the business community. This collaboration meets industry demand for more frequent training and strengthens adult learning by leveraging the polytechnics’ teaching expertise.
Strengthening industry self-compliance enables businesses to reduce compliance costs and supports Singapore’s position as a trusted global trade hub.
Companies may visit the NYP and RP websites to register for these courses.

The 13th Joint Industry Outreach Seminar on Strategic Trade Management

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Singapore Customs will be organising a one-day strategic trade control seminar on 4 November 2025.
The event will feature experts and practitioners of strategic trade and export control, including Government representatives who will be providing regulatory updates. Additionally, speakers will present on compliance challenges and best practices, current threats, and due diligence.
Manufacturers, exporters, logistics providers, freight forwarders, academics and researchers dealing with strategic goods or strategic goods technology are encouraged to attend the seminar.
Registration for the in-person seminar is now closed. Due to overwhelming response, a virtual session will be available. Participants may register for the virtual session by clicking on the registration link and enter the passcode JIO2025. The deadline for the virtual registration is 25 October 2025.

The 12th Joint Industry Outreach Seminar on Strategic Trade Management was co-organised by the United States Department of State (DOS), Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Commerce (DOC), Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and Singapore Customs.
The one-day seminar brought together speakers from government agencies across Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, the European Union, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the United States, as well as industry experts. Sessions covered regulatory updates, compliance challenges, industry best practices, emerging threats, and due diligence considerations for strategic trade.
The seminar was attended by manufacturers, exporters, logistics providers, freight forwarders, academics and researchers dealing with strategic goods or strategic goods technology.
Due to overwhelming in-person demand, a virtual session was also offered. All successful registrants received email notifications with updated programme and venue details.

The 11th Joint Industry Outreach Seminar on Strategic Trade Management was co-organised by the United States Department of State (DOS), Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Commerce (DOC), Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and Singapore Customs.
The one-day seminar featured senior government representatives from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, Germany, the European Union and the United States, alongside private sector experts. Speakers covered a wide range of topics related to strategic trade law, export controls, customs regulations, supply chain security, sanctions, and compliance expectations. The 10th Joint Industry Outreach Seminar on Strategic Trade Management was co-organised by the United States Department of State (DOS), Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Commerce (DOC), Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and Singapore Customs.
Held over two days, the seminar marked the 10-year anniversary of the Joint Industry Outreach series and brought together government regulators and industry experts specialising in strategic trade law, export controls, customs regulations, supply chain security, sanctions and compliance frameworks.

Awareness Briefing on the Strategic Goods Control Order 2017 and Wassenaar Arrangement Outreach Seminar

Singapore Customs conducted the Strategic Goods (Control) Order (SGCO) 2017 Awareness Briefing together with the Wassenaar Arrangement (WA) Outreach Seminar to update industry stakeholders on upcoming changes to the strategic goods control list, which was scheduled for introduction in the third quarter of 2017.
The seminar provided an overview of amendments to the SGCO, insights into the WA’s munitions and dual-use control lists, and opportunities for participants to engage directly with WA technical experts. Traders, declaring agents, carriers, cargo agents, freight forwarders, academics and researchers attended the session to better understand the updates and maintain compliance with strategic goods control requirements.
Registration was conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, and confirmed participants received administrative details by email. Materials related to the updates were made available on the eLearning portal after the event.
