Amending a Permit

You may amend an approved permit in TradeNet as long as it is still valid.
There is no limit to the number of amendments you can make.

However, not all fields can be amended. Refer here for the list of non-amendable fields.

After Making Amendments

If your permit conditions require Customs clearance, you must present the most updated approved copy of the permit to checkpoint officers during cargo clearance.

When a Permit Cannot be Amended

You cannot amend a permit if:

  • It has already been used for cargo clearance.

  • It has expired.

  • The field you want to change is non-amendable.

Extending the Validity Period (Payment Permits)

You may extend the validity period of a payment permit after payment is received and before the permit expires.

Payment timelines depend on the payment condition:

  • GF/G7 — Payment via Inter-Bank GIRO (IBG)
    Payment is received 5 working days after the permit approval date.

    • GF: Importer’s IBG

    • G7: Declaring agent’s IBG

  • G1 — Payment by cash or cheque at any UOB branch

    • Payment is received 5 working days after the cash/cheque is deposited at the bank.

Cancelling a Permit

If you submitted incorrect details that cannot be amended, you must:

  1. Cancel the existing permit (while it is still valid), and

  2. Apply for a new permit.

Cancelled import permits cannot be used for cargo movement.

You may also need to cancel certain permits such as import permits involving inter-gateway movement or extend their validity if they are not used. Check the specific requirements in your permit conditions.

Cancellation Timelines

  • GF/G7 – Payment via IBG

    • GF: Importer’s IBG

    • G7: Declaring agent’s IBG

    • Payment permit must be cancelled before 11:59 pm for the cancellation request to be processed on the same day.

    • Otherwise, cancellations submitted within the permit validity period will take 5 working days to process due to GIRO deduction verification.

  •  G1 – Payment by cash or cheque at UOB branches

    • Cancellations submitted within the permit validity period will take 5 working days to process due to payment verification.

You cannot cancel a permit if:

  • It has already been used for cargo clearance.

  • It has expired for more than 1 calendar day.

  • It has been requested for audit by the Manifest Compliance Unit of Singapore Customs.

In these cases, you must submit a voluntary disclosure to Singapore Customs.
